Surrounded by established gardens and old villas, my challenge for this beautiful new contemporary residence was to help it fit into the neighborhood, and immediately for my my clients

I could see straight away, with the impressive double story and vertical lines, the landscaping will need to be bold. I chose wide paths, with sections of garden cutting into the path, giving an interesting edge to the lines of exposed aggregate.

Predominantly New Zealand native plants were chosen for their bold foliage patterns and year around lush greenery. Fortunately, there was already established a lovely grove of Tree Ferns, Dicksonia squarrosa, which we carefully worked into the design. Focal points of interest were punctuated with three deciduous Acer ‘Gumball’ standards, and lovely Port Wine Magnolia, Michelia figo, in a row of three against the neighboring concrete garage wall.

Large grade plants were brought in for an instantly established look. The top 3 photos were taken just 1 year after planting.
